WASPS TAKE IT TO THE WIRE
from the Bucks Free Press 26 March 2004
The decision over where Wasps will play next year is to go down to the wire.
The rugby club held a board meeting last night but no definite decision over whether Wasps will stay in Wycombe has been reached.
Wasps have until March 31 to tell Premier Rugby where they will play their rugby next season. They can go back to Loftus Road, finalise a five-year deal with Wanderers or can take up the option of a one-year extension with Wanderers.
Chief executive Alistair McLean said: "We're proceeding according to plan and trying to finalise a deal.
"It's going down to the wire but we should have always expected it to have done. That's just life."
Wasps are so undecided over where they will be playing next year that they have lined up two press conferences at Loftus Road and Wycombe depending on where they will be playing next season.
And from the independent Wycombe fans' site Chairboys on the Net 19 March 2004.......
Wasps are thought to have a number of allies within the Council helping their cause to stay but the latest 'cat and mouse' talks between the two clubs took place last Tuesday and no agreement could be reached. A five year deal has been suggested but Wasps want to include a series of clauses relating to ground capacity and access/egress issues.
