BLACKBURN WALKS 400M FOR QPR
from the Hammersmith Times 18 February 2004
by Dave Evans
It may be just four miles between Loftus Road and Griffin Park but it was too much for one of the intrepid sponsored walkers on Saturday.
The event, organised by fundraising organisation "Our QPR", aimed to raise around £10,000 for the club and 400 people, including Chief Executive David Davies, took part.
However, QPR chairman Nick Blackburn did not fare quite so well. He was there at the start when the publicity pictures were being taken, but when the walkers reached the Goldhawk Road, not even a mile away from Loftus Road, he pulled out, citing a previous engagement.
Hopefully
any sponsors that the club chairman may have managed to glean will still pay
out despite him not reaching the finishing line, otherwise he may well have to
put his hand in his own pocket.
