PALADINI AND PORT VALE

4th September 2005

Following the ousting of QPR chairman Bill Power there is renewed interest in Gianni Paladini's background and motivation.

On the BBC website are some interviews that were recorded at the time of Gianni Paladini's attempt to take over Port Vale FC in December 2003.

Vale chairman Bill Bratt tells how he was appalled by "the Italian offer", and Paladini gives his version of events.

Falls in love easily

Bratt describes how Port Vale were under pressure to find investment or be expelled from the League, and claims that Paladini initially offered to plough £560,000 into the club and then at the last minute, when he believed he was Port Vale's only hope, reduced the amount on offer to £25,000. Paladini disputes these figures.

Paladini speaks of his love for Port Vale, denies that he intended to sell the Vale Park ground, and says he will continue to follow the team even though his investment has not been accepted. He says that his son Stephen (now rumoured to be working at QPR) is even more disappointed than he is.
