SPONSORSHIP - TELL US THE TRUTH

Wednesday 17 March 2004

QPR today announced a new 2-year deal with existing shirt sponsors Binatone that will take us through to the end of the 2005-2006 season. No financial details have yet been released.

Most football clubs routinely publish the details of their shirt sponsorship deals. QPR has a history of either not announcing the figures at all or obscuring the true value of the package by including contra-deals in the numbers.

Executive director David Davies promised fans a new era of openness and yet the board of directors is in breach of its obligation to provide shareholders with financial information. The company accounts for QPR Holdings plc are now over two months late, as a result of which the club is incurring fines.

The club now has an opportunity to start to make amends by publishing details of the new deal. Some of the recent shirt sponsorship deals have turned out to be for absolutely pitiful amounts, and fans have every right to know how their money that pays the salaries of the marketing staff at Loftus Road is being spent.
