DAVID THORNE BACK IN OZ
Thursday 5 February 2004
David Thorne is back in Australia after his visit to London last month.
Whilst here he met with representatives from various QPR supporters' groups and websites, who reported on their discussions with him as follows.
He has now scaled down his proposed investment and is considering offering the club £400,000 in exchange for shares. He plans to borrow half of this money against his own assets.
He disappeared from public view at the end of last year after the club told him a bigger offer had come in from Paul Garland and his associates, and so he stood aside to give that a chance. He then fell seriously ill with diabetes but has now recovered.
David Thorne became a FIFA-approved match agent last month and would like to bring international games to Loftus Road regardless of whether his investment goes through. He is keen to organise a pre-season tour for the first team to Australia and New Zealand, and also speaks enthusiastically of introducing to QPR young Antipodean players whose value would increase.
He expects to be back in London in March.
