NEWS ROUND-UP

Brentford
FC moved quickly last week to deny the Fulham and Hammersmith Chronicle’s
claims that BFC would shortly be meeting QPR to discuss the Bees sharing at
Loftus Road next season. In a short statement posted on the Brentford official
website on Friday they said:
“The
boards of both Brentford FC and Bees United wish to state they have no plans
to meet with representatives of Queen Park Rangers regarding proposals for a
groundsharing or stadium ownership arrangement at Loftus Road.”
Haleem
Kherallah’s latest bid for the club has been rejected, according to local
Ceefax on Friday. The news item went on to say that he had been encouraged to
return with a better offer.
On
Saturday the LSA published the minutes of its meeting with the club that had
taken place on 8 January. All the plc directors except Ross Jones and Paul
English were in attendance. We now have around 9,000 season ticket holders,
but the rent lost when Fulham depart will be £600,000. The directors
emphasised that there is an "internal back-up plan" in place to
ensure the club's survival through to the end of the season, and Nick
Blackburn said he would ask Chris Wright to consider donating his shares
either to the club or to Our QPR. Chief executive David Davies said he is on a
normal employment contract not a three-year one. Read the full report at www.qpr-lsa.co.uk
In
the Brighton matchday programme Nick Blackburn decided to give his own version
of some of the questions and answers from the club’s meeting with the LSA.
He tells us that we are not in a position where we have to have a forced sale
of any player, that Chris Wright exerts no influence over the running of the
club, that all the non-executive directors pay £500 a season for their
tickets, and that three of the directors have introduced new funds this
season.
David
Davies writes in his programme notes of a new ticket promotion scheme for the
Notts County game. The ticket offer will only be open to people holding
Australian or New Zealand passports. The club is hoping to attract 1200-1500
new supporters who will be watching the Notts game from the Lower School End.
Elsewhere
in the programme notification is given that a Fans Forum will be held in
Ealing at 7pm on Wednesday 28 January at Trailfinders Sports Club in Vallis
Way. David Davies will be on the panel, and tickets need to be obtained in
advance from the Box Office.
