WASPS CONSIDER TEN-YEAR TENANCY
From the Bucks Free Press 2 January 2004

Wycombe Wanderers and Wasps have been holding talks about a possible ten-year groundshare agreement.

The clubs are set for a second round of talks this month and both are keen on a five or ten-year deal.

Wasps have to tell Wycombe by February 28 whether they will be playing their home matches at Causeway Stadium next season and it is possible the two clubs will sign a temporary one-year arrangement to tide them over while a longer-term solution is found.

Wasps are keen to remain in Wycombe where they have spent the last 18 months but they have concerns over the ground's 10,000 capacity, the access routes and car parking problems.

Wasps chief executive Alistair McLean said: "The sponsors love it here, the fans love it and so do the players.

"But one way or another, we have to have a bigger capacity. It's not been an issue this year but will start to impact on us next year and will be a serious issue the year after.

"The immediate problems are the car parking and access and egress to and from the ground."

Wasps are reluctant to commit themselves until their concerns have been ironed out.

They also have to extricate themselves from their current long-term tenancy arrangement with Queens Park Rangers Football Club which they were forced to temporarily abandon when Fulham Football Club gazumped them.

Wanderers chairman Ivor Beeks said: "There's a willingness on both sides to keep Wasps in Wycombe but there are a number of issues that need sorting out."
